Senator Donoghue Sponsors Bill to Boost 3rd Grade Reading

Reading is fundamental, and a Boston-based nonprofit is hoping state lawmakers approve a bill they say would create an early literacy road map for all Bay State communities to follow. Amy O'Leary, campaign director for Strategies for Children's "Early Education for All" initiative, said Tuesday the legislation calls for putting together an expert panel of education consultants to form a strategy aimed at improving third-grade reading proficiency.   In the Senate, the bill is sponsored locally by Lowell state Sen.
