Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development Hold Their Third Listening Tour in Lowell

Senator Eileen Donoghue (D-Lowell) and Representative Sarah Peake (D-Provincetown), chairsof the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development, will be holding their third listening tour inLowell on Monday, September 12th. The committee held the first stop on the tour in Provincetown in June andthe second stop in Sturbridge in August.The committee will hear testimony from various organizations and individuals from the Lowell area in thefields of tourism, arts and culture. The day will begin with a hearing at Boott Cotton Mills Museum. Thehearing is open to the public and will be from 10am to 11:30am on the 2nd floor of the event center. Thecommittee will continue their day with tours of Western Avenue Studios, the Canal, Lowell National HistoricPark and end with a tour of the Boott Cotton Mills Museum.“I am excited that Lowell will be hosting the third of the committee’s listening tours,” said SenatorDonoghue. “Lowell provides an excellent example of the contribution the arts make to communities. I am eagerto hear how we can continue to support the people who work in this sector.”“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to visit Lowell and experience all the city has to offer,” saidRep. Peake. “These listening tours provide committee members the chance to see the hidden jewels of theCommonwealth and hear from individuals in the fields of tourism and arts about what they do and what theirneeds are.”The committee will continue their listening tour across the state with stops later this month in Gloucester andNorth Adams in October.
