Funds for Anti-Gang Program Secured for Lowell

The city will receive $450,000 this year to combat gang violence in the community thanks to an ammendment to the 2012 state budget by Senator Donoghue. In the fight over the 2012 budget, Donoghue was a strong advocate for the state's Shannon Grant program to reduce gang violence in cities.   The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell, Light of Cambodian Children, Lowell Community Health Center and the United Teen Equality Center are among the groups Lowell police have partnered with through the program.   Read the full article here.
