Senator Donoghue Helps Lowell Community Bank Get State Loan

Lowell Five Cent Savings Bank became the first bank headquartered in Lowell to join state Treasurer Steve Grossman's program to lend millions of dollars in state funds to community banks. The treasurer made the announcement after a meeting in Lowell with local bankers set up by state Senator Eileen Donoghue, so Grossman could market his program tomove money out of large banks into community banks. The Senator played an instrumental role in connecting Lowell Five with the state program aimed at revitalizing small businesses.   ""It will be a strong signal that the business environment in the city is geared towards creating new jobs," said Grossman.   Read the full article here.
